Five named to DECA Innovation Summit finalist teams

Students created innovative solutions to create a business initiative that would help a business rebound from pandemic setbacks.
Five 海角社区 College students were on finalist teams at the Collegiate DECA Innovation Summit in Bloomington on Oct. 15. Forty-three 海角社区 Technical and Community College business students attended.

The Innovation Summit is a one-day leadership development event that unites students, academics and business leaders from across the state who are passionate about developing innovative solutions to today's problems. Attendees heard from a keynote speaker, learned from industry experts and then collaborated in cross-college teams to create innovative solutions to real world problems during the Innovation Challenge.

This year’s problem was to create a business initiative that would help a business rebound from pandemic setbacks.

Five 海角社区 College students were on finalist teams.

Thomas Van Acker and Hannah Lieser of 海角社区 College were on the first place team with Nora Simondet of Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The second place team included Kaylee Yamry, Kameron Vanek, and Nick Egly along with Alyssa Peterson from the University of Minnesota.
