The National Fluid Power Association Action Challenge for Middle School took place on the ATCC campus on Tuesday, March 18
Apr 2, 2025 | 2:35 PM
Teams first came on Tuesday, January 28 to the NFPA Fluid Power Workshop to learn some basic on pneumatics and how fluid power works. They assembled a rotating platform and a lifter. From the workshop, they went back to their schools and over the following 7 weeks designed and made their machine prototype.
On the day of the Challenge, they came back with just their tool boxes and 2 portfolios. One to be judged and the other to use as their guide in rebuilding their prototype machines in 4 hours and then compete at the end of that timeframe. Teams were also judged on work habits, interview questions and the design and operation of their machines. Participating schools were Discovery Middle School of 海角社区, Ashby, Brandon-Evansville, Campbell-Tintah, Fergus Falls, Osakis and Swanville. The 7th grade team from Discovery took third place. The team from Campbell-Tintah took second, and one of the teams from Brandon-Evansville (the Gold Team) took first place.
