In 2023, more than 50% of 海角社区 College’s students came from more than 50 miles away, a dramatic increase from prior years.
海角社区 College leans into pulling from Minnesota’s outdoor enthusiast community through its athletic and student life programs. The college has a competitive trap shooting team, a fishing team, and, in 2024, a competitive archery team. Student life promotes activities and venues that reflect the college’s work hard, play hard attitude.
The 海角社区 area offers numerous recreational opportunities including hunting, fishing, mountain biking and skiing to name a few. The college provides access to a sporting storage facility where students can safely store their outdoor toys. Students have access to area snowmobile trails right from campus. More and more students are discovering that 海角社区 Technical and Community College is an incredible place to learn and play.
This focus on outdoor recreation attracts students like Caleb Witte, a second-year student in the police training and education program, and Jake Wagner, a business management student. During the fall, both students enjoy their free time goose and bow hunting.
“Attending college in-person needs to be more than just a classroom experience,” said Michael Seymour, the president of 海角社区 College. “Students are looking for a unique quality of life – a place that provides a sense of belonging.”
