Steussy, who began his teaching career at ATCC in 1977 and retired in 2008 after 31 years of service, was honored for his unwavering commitment to preparing students for success in technical careers. Throughout his teaching career, he served as the lead campus advisor for the organization through its evolution from VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) to SkillsUSA-VICA, and finally to its current form as SkillsUSA.

"Dave has been an outstanding ambassador for technical education throughout his entire career," said a representative from SkillsUSA during the award presentation. "His dedication to student success has impacted countless lives and careers."

Even in retirement, Steussy continues to contribute significantly to technical education. For the past four years, he has actively supported the State Diesel Equipment Technology competition by writing tests, developing training aids, and both recruiting and training judges.

The Friend of SkillsUSA Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the organization's mission of empowering students to become skilled professionals and leaders in the workforce.

"Dave's continued involvement with SkillsUSA showcases his lifelong dedication to technical education and workforce development," said the State Executive Director. "We are incredibly proud to have had him as part of our faculty and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition."
